So Mike and I are heading to Canada to watch the Blue Jays play the Red Sox in a three-game set this weekend. Definitely looking forward to it, especially the Josh Beckett v. Roy Halladay matchup that could be slated for Sunday if Beckett’s balky back cooperates. We’re planning to wake up on Friday morning around 6 a.m. and drive 10 hours, getting into Toronto around 4 p.m. on Friday evening and checking into our hotel. Then we’ve got a 7 p.m. game on Friday. There are two 1 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday, and then we’ll drive to the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY.
I’m pretty excited. I’ve never been to Rogers Centre in Canada (what was formerly SkyDome) and I’ve only been to Canada once, with a group from Lake Compounce when we were going to Toronto’s Wonderland for the weekend. We never saw downtown Toronto on that trip, and spent most of our time in Niagara, so that should be pretty interesting as well. This will also mean I’ll have visited every AL East ballpark, so I can cross something else off my list. Granted, I haven’t been to a lot of other ballparks, so I need to get moving on that.
We were thinking about a baseball road trip this summer, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen now, so we’ll just have to savor this one. As far as this summer is concerned, I’m not really sure what I’ll be doing, but I’m guessing I’ll see more baseball games somewhere. As it is, I already have about seven-to-eight games at Fenway this year. I’ve got first-round playoff tickets too to see the Celtics, so my sports calendar will be somewhat full. I wouldn’t mind a nice trip to Baltimore though to watch the Sox play the Orioles.
Either way, this trip to Canada should be great, and we’ll make the most of it. I just need to remember to pack my passport…
