There’s been nothing Earth shattering happening lately, leading to my lack of posting. I’ve been incredibly busy between my work and my personal life, and there hasn’t been something that’s struck me as ridiculously interesting enough to post. So here’s a quick list of ten things that have been happening in my life or that I’ve been interested in lately:
1) For the first time in God-knows-how-many years, I celebrated Valentine’s Day with the girlfriend. In doing so, I bought myself the priciest piece of meat I’ve ever had at Davio’s (a $43 New York Sirloin, which was totally worth it), bought us an excellent dinner (including - YUM! - Lava Cake for dessert) and we stayed at an excellent five-star hotel, the Taj Boston on the Public Garden (formerly the Ritz-Carlton) that I’d recommend. But it was an excellent time overall, and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend the “holiday” any other way.
2) I bought myself XM Radio, and I’ve been listening to it all the freaking time. The decision was between XM and Sirius, and I decided on XM because of Opie & Anthony, to be honest. I haven’t listened to Stern since he left terrestrial radio, and I feel like I’d be catching up too much. Plus, his shitck is old at this point. I listen to O&A every day since they’re on terrestrial radio from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. (simulcast on XM) and then exclusively on XM from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or noon. So it’s much easier to follow along with them. Plus, XM has a ton of great channels, the MLB package and a lot of college basketball. The face for the radio is also so freaking cool.
3) I tried doing my taxes. I got about halfway done using TurboTax.com, got frustrated and stopped. I think I’m heading to H&R Block, unless anyone has a better idea. TurboTax is crap.
4) Obama’s taking over, even if he’s taking a page from Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. Maybe instead of hammering home with this, Hillary should take a page from Deval Patrick: Together, We Can (which, incidentally, was a slogan for the City of Boston long before it was a slogan for Patrick).
5) Call of Duty 4 has without a doubt the most addictive multiplayer mode of any video game I’ve ever played. I’ve owned it for about four weeks and have played it for more than 24 hours (I wish the multiplayer didn’t log this though… just is depressing). I probably play for an hour or so after work each day or a couple hours on the weekends. As today was a holiday from work, definitely logged a couple of hours.
6) HD-DVD is about dead. I’m glad I didn’t pick up one of the players when they slashed the price on it for the XBox360, or I’d be stuck with something about as useful as a BetaMAX player. I do have a Blu-Ray player (in my PS3), so I apparently came out on the right side of that format war. The “Look and Sound of Perfect” is about to be in the bargain bins at every electronics retailer nationwide. Nice try, Toshiba.
7) Guitar Hero is putting out an Aerosmith Video Game. I am excited about it, but not as excited as I’d be if it was coming out for Rock Band. Could that be a reality? Dream on.
(since 8 followed by a close parentheses is apparently a smile…) VIII) Pitchers and catchers have reported. So far, I’m going to three games in Toronto, Opening Day at Fenway, the first Saturday Yankee game at Fenway and the Saturday game at Fenway when the St. Louis Cardinals come to town. Quite an impressive haul, and it’ll be even better if I can add Patriots Day to the list at some point soon.
9) Done at Suffolk for another four weeks before beginning my fourth of five blocks of school in my MPA program. Got an A on a paper, A- on another paper, an A on my debate presentation and must be getting an A for class participation in this block. With A’s in my first two blocks, things are going very, very well, in the words of Jerry York or Larry David. You pick.
10) Last — but definitely not least — Lindsay Lohan posed nude for New York Magazine. This showed up on the DRUDGE REPORT, so it’s apparently a big story. It was right under something on the election. Anyway, this is clearly NOT SAFE FOR WORK, but here’s the link.
Hopefully, I’ll update before the end of the month. Being a leap year, at least there’s a better chance.
