(Yes, I haven’t updated in almost a month. Quickly, it was a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and today, on Islamic New Year’s Day, we’ll resume blogging as if I didn’t take a month off. Party!)
I was on ESPN.com early this morning before work, and it inspired me to come back to blogging after I saw an absolutely ridiculous question in a SportsNation poll about the Patriots-Jaguars game this Saturday. I’m sick of reading everywhere how the Jaguars have a great team and they could be the team to knock off the Pats, blah blah blah.
Then this question:
4) Which quarterback would you rather have on a potential game-winning drive?
Tom Brady
David Garrard
Ok, the first ever 100 percent SportsNation poll. I don’t care if you bleed Jacksonville green or you raise jaguars for sport, you go with Tom Brady. How is this EVEN A QUESTION? So 77,000+ people vote, and the results:
89.1% Tom Brady
10.9% David Garrard
REALLY?
In just this season alone, Brady has 50 TD, 8 INT, and 4,800+ yards. Garrard has 18 TD, 3 INT and about 2,500 yards. In his career (since 2002), Garrard has 36 TD and 16 INT. During that same time frame (2002-2007), Brady has 179 TD (never fewer than 23 in a season) and 74 INTs. Brady is +105 and Garrard +20.
Brady has engineered 27 career game-winning drives when his team his behind or tied entering the fourth quarter. I know David Garrard has had ONE (last week against the Steelers), and I’m sure he’s maybe had one or two more, but come on.
Basically, 10.9 percent of this poll are batshit. For every answer where someone has picked Jacksonville, basically you take off 10.9 percent, and that’s your real answer. ‘Nough said.
