I’m so glad to have Curt back on the roster next year — this gives us so much flexibility with the rotation, and with a 1-year, $8 million ($14m with incentives) contract, it’s definitley a good move for the team. If anything, Curt’s definitely going to help our stable of young pitchers (Lester, Buchholz, Dice-K, even Beckett) with anything they need and be an incredible role model for the youth of Boston.
If I was assured of him retiring as a Red Sox at the conclusion of the 2008 (or hell, any season), I’d be buying my Schilling jersey right now. He’s already locked up his place in the Hall of Fame, and both he and his bloody sock will long be a legend in the Boston sports world.
