At the annual beanpot tournament (and really any time we play Northeastern), the BU students make fun of the NU students for being a “safety school.” It’s all we can do since the other schools we play in the Beanpot, Harvard and BC, are “more elite” than BU.
But the actions of NU students keep giving us more gasoline to pour on the fire. In a story reported on page two of the Boston Herald today:
NU weeds out 2 freshmen after dorm pot bust
(I love the headline and the wordplay. You’re so clever, Herald. Herald copy desk, I <3 you.)
Two boneheaded Northeastern University freshmen have been tossed from school before ever cracking open a book for reportedly calling out from a dorm they had pot for sale.
“If you’re looking for weed, my roommate has some for sale,” police say Michael R. Emery, 18, of Haverhill bragged to a female student from the window of his alleged dorm room drug den.
Unfortunately for him, two plainclothes Boston police officers were within earshot.
Emery and his roommate, Matthew J. Ferrante, 18, of North Andover, were both arrested Sunday on alcohol, pot possession and distribution charges.
Ferrante last night said he had “no comment” when reached at home after his mother handed over the phone and said, “It’s the Herald.”
Northeastern University spokesperson Laura Shea said both teens are “no longer students at Northeastern University.” She declined to elaborate.
The teens had small bags of marijuana and a larger bag packed with three to four ounces of pot in their second-floor dorm room, according to Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley. Other drug paraphernalia and a pulley system reportedly used to deliver the goods to other dorm rooms was also found.
Police also turned up bottles of Gray Goose vodka, Malibu rum, Smirnoff Twist raspberry vodka and Southern Comfort.
